Sheffield Precision Medical is the leading independent UK orthopaedic contract manufacturer.

Specialising in high precision instrumentation for a global customer base, Sheffield Precision partner with OEM implant manufacturers to provide a complete solution from prototyping to new product introduction to volume manufacturing.

History

Sheffield Precision’s parent company began manufacturing orthopaedic instrumentation in 1991 but its history in engineering can be traced back much further than that. The team you currently see was first formed at Wylcut Swift, a custom cutting tool manufacturer. It was here that the skills we now possess in manufacturing drills, reamers and cutters was perfected. Below is a brief timeline of some key events in our history.

2010

Through a management buyout of the current facility and equipment Sheffield Precision is incorporated on 11th February 2010 with 13 employees.

2011

Sheffield Precision gain accreditation to ISO 13485 from Lloyds Register complimenting their ISO 9001 accreditation.

2013
Sheffield Precision’s finishing department relocate into a custom built 5000 sq. ft. unit complete with segregated rooms for media blasting, laser welding, laser marking, and passivation. Turnover doubles in the three years since its founding.

2016

Working together with a new Japanese customer, Sheffield Precision become accredited for Japanese ordinance 169, allowing supply of medical instruments into this profitable market.

To keep pace of the ever changing and expanding QA requirements of the medical device market, Sheffield Precision employ their first dedicated validations engineer.

2018

Design, production, QA, and inspection move into new 5000 sq. ft. offices with conference room facilities. Employee count reaches 44.
