On Saturday 8th February SPM sponsored Wath upon Dearne RUFC welcomed Acklam to a wintry Moor Road. With the visitors sitting bottom of the table it was important for Wath to capitalise and add too their already strong league position.
After an evenly contested first half Wath ramped up the pressure and were rewarded with three tries in relatively quick succession. Much of this could be put down to the good work done by the Wath forwards which included Sheffield Precision Medical’s very own Carl Mortimer. With the result beyond doubt the home team could have eased off but instead saved the best till last with full back Tom Quinn chipping a loose balll over the heads of the oppositiion and into his own hands. He was caught before the line but more good work from the forwards carried the ball over the line. The final score was Wath 29, Acklam 6.
After the match SPM CEO Brian Reece was on hand to give away a prize to the man of the match, Joe Bartlett.
